THE WORLD IS OLD TONIGHT (2016) It has taken Aubrey and Elwood nearly four years to record this current collection of Celtic and American folk songs. As is often the case, they represent our glory days with the late Jean Ritchie and other long-time friends, including Daniel Dutton. These are time-honored songs that we hope kindle ancestral, old-world remembrances of enchanted and sacred seasons in your own lives.
In addition to Aubrey's vocals, mountain dulcimer, banjo, guitar, tin whistle and feet, and Elwood's vocals, guitar, mountain dulcimer and harmonica, we wish to thanks the outstanding musicians who added boundless depth and grace to these songs: Cathy Clasper-Torch on Chinese erhu, violin, cello and vocals; John Cerrigione on bass; Uriah Donnelly on piano; Kevin Doyle on djembe and Torrin Ryan on uilleann pipes.

EACH OTHER’S STORY (2011) Here is an interesting blend of genre: a collection of original songs spanning 30 years in the careers of Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly, with a bonus track of a song Elwood wrote in 1966. Some were previously recorded, and on those we’ve added more instruments and voices.
Aubrey and Elwood’s early influences, as well as those grafted in during their 24 years of research and performing, are apparent here, and hopefully illustrate their depth of commitment to traditional American folk music.
We hope you will find some of your favorites, and some new ones to savor during your daily chores, travels and leisure time.
Thanks to all the fine musicians who added immeasurable depth and warmth to this recording, to whom Aubrey and Elwood are forever grateful: Cathy Clasper-Torch on violin, cello, piano and vocals; John Cerrigione on bass; Heidi Cerrigione on autoharp; Kevin Doyle on percussion; Paul Dube on accordion; Morgan Santos on cello; and Alex Krepkikh on harmonica and tambourine.
Also thank you to the musicians who were with us during the original recording of some of these songs: Everett Brown on piano accordion; Steve LaValley on djembe; Rick McKinney on mandolin; Cari Norris on guitar and vocals; and Lisa Schmitz on guitar and vocals.

THE HALFWAY GROUND (2007) What do you call it when Atwater~Donnelly and five remarkable friends get together to play great old-time gospel? You call it Jerimoth Hill after the highest point in little Rhode Island, home of Elwood Donnelly and his wife Aubrey Atwater. With this, their tenth recording, Aubrey on mountain dulcimer, banjo and mandolin, and Elwood on lead vocals and guitar are joined by Cathy Clasper-Torch, fiddle and cello; Heidi Cerrigione, autoharp; John Cerrigione, bass; Uriah Donnelly, piano and lead guitar; and Kevin Doyle, percussion.
With The Halfway Ground, Elwood Donnelly — of Atwater~Donnelly — presents his long-awaited gospel album. This endeavor summarizes years of research throughout those hidden pockets of America where music, as an integral part of daily life, weaves an emotional thread through work and play, commitment and faith, endurance and hope, struggle and peace. The Halfway Ground, where the hereafter is ever-present in conversation and song, and greener pastures are a simple assurance.
The result is the glorious five-part harmony of Jerimoth Hill. So, breathe deeply as these songs meander their way through your discerning ear and into your heart to meet your spirit on The Halfway Ground.

THE BLACKEST CROW (2004) The Blackest Crow is a treasury of traditional American and Celtic folk songs, as well as original pieces. Enjoy their resplendent vocals and thoughtful presentation, played on guitar, mountain dulcimer, old-time banjo, tin whistle, mandolin, fiddle, piano, harmonica, bones, bodhran, wooden spoons, and feet.
In their ongoing quest as gatekeepers of traditional folk music and dance, Aubrey and Elwood treat their life's work as a rescue mission: finding old songs, writing new songs, and as always, giving voice to the quiet. The songs were collected during many years of performing throughout Appalachia, as well as other places in the United States where traditional folk music still melds with daily life.

Hear the beauty and emotion of their well-matched voices as well as their unique instrumentation on mountain dulcimer, old-time banjo, guitar, tin whistle, harmonica and bodhran. Their ease, warmth, and humor are well-conveyed on this, their seventh recording, as they present American and Celtic folk music, stories, and poems, unearthed through many years of research and performing. The seventeen cuts include gospel, ballads, stories, poems and one instrumental. Sit back, relax and enjoy this feast!

Books By Elwood Donnelly
SUCH SINGING YOU WILL HEAR (2014) 35 Songs of the Carter Family for Mountain Dulcimer, Backup & Voice
After many years of reading and studying Carter Family memorabilia, as well as listening to and practicing most of their recordings, Elwood has compiled 35 of the 300 songs recorded by A.P., Sara and Maybelle into a book of instructions and notes for mountain dulcimer, backup and voice.
With all our travels and experiences, it was inevitable that we would come across the songs of the Carter Family, a country music group from Maces Spring, VA—on Clinch Mountain—made up of Alvin Pleasants (A.P.) Carter, his wife Sara, and her cousin Maybelle Addington. Their skillful playing and close-harmony singing made them a huge commercial success beginning in 1927, right through the Depression and into the early 1940s. Their songs, and Maybelle's guitar-picking technique, have bewitched music fans and players ever since.
We have taken great pains to put the notes down as we heard them, rather than what's in our heads from so many other artists who have sung and/or recorded songs of The Original Carter Family. We believe you will find these versions to be very close to the original recordings.
These songs represent not only The Carter Family, but the spirits of their first audiences, many of whom have passed—“ordinary,” hard-working people who were less documented. We hear the voices of struggle, love, work, joy, hardship, betrayal and bravery.
It is my joyful obligation to pass them on to you. Elwood

A PLACE AT THE TABLE (2012) A personal collection of recipes and missives.
The recipes are a combination of ones I remember from my Italian mother and aunts, my own adaptions, and those from friends along the way; as well as canning recipes that I use every year.
The missives are pieces I've written over the years, many of which were included in the Atwater~Donnelly performance calendar until we shifted to e-mail.
My wish is that you'll spend valuable time in the kitchen with friends and family, and also that you might find the missives personal and comparable to your own experiences.
Happy cooking! Elwood
